Schedule for July

We finally have our July schedule ready for you.  Although I won't personally be teaching any classes this month (It's that thumb thing again.), Susan comes with my highest recommendation.  I hope you find something you like.
                        -- Kelly

  • July 5th -          Reminder----the store will be closed.
  • July 8th -          Glitter, Shimmer, Sparkle. We'll be using Shimmer Sheetz, Peel-offs and micro-fine glitter to make some beautiful cards.  Who can't use a little more sparkle in their day?  Pictures will be posted when the samples are ready.
  • July 15th and 17th - Christmas Card Class- You will make 10 slider cards with a pocket inside which will hold a gift card, a packet of cocoa, lottery tickets, or a gift certificate from Stamp & Scrap Nest.  The Tuesday night class is now full, but there is plenty of room on Tuesday morning or both of Thursday's classes. In addition to your usual class kit, for this class you will need 1/4" red line tape.

  • July 19th - Come Away with Me Box and Tag Book Set - In this class you will decorate a 5"x7" box using the new "Come Away with Me" papers from Graphic 45. You will also make a Tag Book to go with your box.

  • July 22nd - Stencil Class - We will be using a number of different techniques this month with our sand castle stencil.  We will be using copper paste on cork, glitter on translucent paste, and for our third card we will make our own patterned paper by spraying a variety of stencils.  We will then paste over a die-cut seahorse to add texture.

  • July 26th - Stampscapes - Although the cards have not been designed yet, we will again be making some beautiful scenes using these special stamps and coloring techniques.
  • July 31st - Iris Fold Cards - This is your opportunity to learn to do Iris Folding or to review the technique if you've done it previously.  We will use folded strips of paper or pieces of ribbon to fill in special Iris Fold patterns. It looks complex, but don't let the look fool you. It's a very easy technique and produces a beautiful result.

News from the Nest

            Selfie!!

Pat was gone for a few days and no matter how hard we tried, Jazzy and I couldn't write this without her here to type for us, so now that she's back, we can get you caught up on things at the nest.

NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE! NOTICE!
The store will be closed on Saturday, July 5th. The Make 'N Take for July will be held on Saturday, July 12th.  Again, Make 'N Take is on July 12th instead of July 5th.

Graphic 45 is here!!!

      An Eerie Tale

       Come Away with Me

For those of you who've been waiting, the two new lines from Graphic 45 have arrived. There are 12 new papers from the Eerie Tale line as well as sticker sheets, chipboard pieces, tags and pockets, stamps, 12x12, 8x8 and 6x6 pads. The travel line consists of 8 new papers, stamps, chipboard pieces, tags and pockets, journaling tags, and 12x12, 8x8 and 6x6 pads. The papers are fabulous and we can envision them in many cards, books and scrapbook pages.

We have also just received a new set of papers spotlighting the 6 New England states.  These would be great for a scrapbook page with your vacation pictures.

REVISED SCHEDULE

We have a couple of adjustments to our June schedule.

First - Since our "Bare Bones Book Class" is being held at First Church in Simsbury, we will be having an Open Crop at the store on June 21st from 10 am to 5 pm.  Cost is $10. Come in and work on your own cards or scrapbook pages and get inspiration from others in the group.

Second - Eileen Hull, die designer from Sizzix, will be holding a class called "Bloom Box, " where you will use Sizzix dies to create a chipboard box full of 3D flowers.  The box contains a hidden mechanism that pops the flowers up and down.  For more detail, see previous post.  Time:  12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  Cost:  $37

This weekend is an exciting one!  For us, it starts on Thursday with Nathalie's classes.  There are still a couple of spots open in the evening class if you're interested.  Just call to reserve a space.

Heirloom's Rubber Stamp and Paper Arts Festival is in West Springfield at the Big E on both Saturday and Sunday. You can buy your tickets right here for only $6.  Tickets are good for both days and will cost $8 at the door on Saturday. There are Make 'N Takes, demos, classes, and wonderful shopping opportunities.

Don't forget to plan on attending our Make 'N Take either before or after you go up on Saturday. Below are the four cards we'll be making.

And last but CERTAINLY not least, for those of you who've been asking (begging, pleading, bribing), we have a date for our first Christmas card class!  (Drum roll, please.)  We will be holding classes on Tuesday July 15th and Thursday July 17th. Classes will be at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm on both days and the cost will be $25.  You will make 10 cards of the same design, so if you sign up for this class each month, you will have 50 cards done before Christmas.
