Make 'N Take

Looking at all these new dies is hard work! I'm so tired I have to take a nap.      - Jazzy

We just got a new shipment of summer dies from Impression  Obsession, and we're really excited.  There are lots of beachy, nautical type dies and they're really cute.  They just came in yesterday and we've sold quite a few already.

Saturday is our monthly Make 'N Take and we have four great cards for you.  Drop in anytime between 10 and 4 and make as many or as few of these as you like.  Only $2 for each card you make.  (And while you're here, you can check out our new dies.)

OOPS!

It appears that although I posted information about some of the upcoming classes, I neglected to actually put the calendar on.  I will remedy that right now and even add some photos of samples from those classes.

SUSAN'S GARDEN - We will be making a beautiful, lifelike hydrangea and building a box to put it on.  This would make a lovely gift or just a place to keep your treasures.

STENCIL CLASS -  Who says you have to make a hot air balloon with a hot air balloon stencil?  Turn it upside down and - voila - a vase!  These are the cards for the August stencil class.

Guess who had a birthday?  Kelly was two years old on Friday (July 25) and celebrated with her friends here at the store.

AUGUST CLASSES

(This picture is for Linda who says Jazzy needs more BLOG time.)

We have the August schedule ready for you and it looks like lots of great classes.  Now for the details.

  • Aug. 6 - Stencil class.  We will show you more than one way to use a stencil.  We will be using the hot air balloon stencil to make three cards, one of which is actually a hot air balloon.
  • Aug. 9 - Susan's Garden.  Come make three-dimensional flowers that seem to bloom before your eyes.  Using paper and some basic tools, you'll make flowers that look incredibly real.  They can be used in all sorts of ways including cards and scrapbook pages.
  • Aug. 16 - Plain Jane Travel Portfolio - This beautiful portfolio is a great place to keep all your trip photos and mementos, and it's fun to make. You'll be using the new "Come Away with Me" papers from Graphic 45 to construct all sorts of pages, pockets, and tags to enhance your Tim Holtz portfolio.  You'll need to bring your normal class kit (scissors, bone folder, lots of tape, ruler, pencil, etc.) as well as a paper cutter that will cut 12" paper, and 1/4" red line tape.  The class is from 10 to 5 with a short break for lunch, so you can bring a brown bag lunch or we can pick up an order of pizza, sandwiches, or salads for you.
  • Plain Jane Halloween Book - We are ready to start the next round of Hidden Hinge Book classes, and this one is a doozy.  Making this book is a complex process and takes quite a bit of time and patience, but as the former book class students can tell you, it is also very addictive.  This book uses the Graphic 45 "Eerie Tale" paper collection and looks like an antique book of magic spells.  It will be a lot of fun to make.  We are offering your choice of classes,  either three Saturday mornings, three Saturday afternoons or two all-day Wednesday classes.  The Saturday classes will be held on August 23, September 13, and September 27, either 9 to 1 or 2 to 6.  Wednesday classes will be from 10 am to 6 pm on September 10th and 24th. The cost for these classes includes a $75 class fee and $75 (plus tax) to cover all papers, hardware, and other materials for a total of $154.76.  You will need your usual class kit as well as your Martha Stewart Score Board, a paper cutter that will cut 12" paper, a ruler, pencil, LOTS of tape, 1/4 and 1/2" red line tape, foam ink blending tool, and a 3/4 to 1" soft bristle or foam brush for spreading Mod Podge.

  • August 26 - Z Fold Cards -In this class you'll be making cards using  three different shapes of precut Z fold cards from The Paper Cut.  These are really easy cards to make but they look as if you've worked all day.  The possibilities here are endless.

New Pictures

Apparently there have been multiple requests for my picture, but as you can see it's time for my beauty sleep.  I can't just do these things at the drop of a hat.  I need time to prepare.  Perhaps I'll be up to signing autographs next week.
                            - Kelly

Next Saturday, July 26, is our Stampscapes class.  We didn't have the actual cards done because we were waiting for a shipment of stamps. The stamps have arrived and these are the stampscapes we will be working on in that class.  We will make these two cards and if time permits we will have a chance to play with some of the stamps and a variety of techniques.

We have an Iris Fold Card class on Thursday, July 31.  The three cards we will be making are below.  Two of the cards are made with folded paper, and the pear is made with ribbon. Whether you've always wanted to know how to do iris folding or you just need a little refresher, call and sign up!

SAVE THE DATES!
Although we don't quite have the calendar finished for August, we do have some photos and dates for you.

August Christmas Card Classes will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 10:30 am or 6:30 pm and Thursday, August 21st at the same times.  Due to high demand from the July class members, the Tuesday evening class has already filled. You will be making ten of the card pictured below.

Jane Jones has done it again! On Saturday August 16th she will be holding a Portfolio Class. In this class you will make the beautiful Tim Holtz portfolio pictured below, featuring the new line of travel papers from Graphic 45.  There are pockets, pull-outs, photo mats and much more in this 7 1/2 by 9 inch folder. The class will be from 10 am until 5 pm at the store and you will go home with a place to store all of your photos and memorabilia from a favorite trip. Details will appear with the calendar very soon.

For those of you who've been holding your breath waiting for the next Plain Jane hidden hinge book, we will be ready with details on our next posting.  I can tell you that she has been working on the book and it is FABULOUS!  The book is a slightly different size and has some delightful new features. The class will be offered on three Saturdays or two Wednesdays, with schedules similar to what we've done before.  The cost will be $75 plus materials.  Stay tuned!!

Make 'N Take

Below are the four cards we will be doing on Saturday for Make 'N Take.  Hope you can join us.

Don't forget that we have a Stampscapes class on Saturday July 26th.  We have ordered quite a few new stamps from this company and because they haven't arrived yet, I don't have samples to post for this class.  The photo below is from the Stampscapes website and is very similar to one of the cards we will be making.

Dies! Dies! Dies!

We just got a large box of new dies in from Memory Box! Jazzy and I have been busy sorting and pricing them so they'll be ready to put out for sale.              -Kelly

Memory Box has just released a new series of dies and we love them.  We're already getting ready to reorder because the first three or four people that saw them have bought quite a few and we know we will run out sooner than we anticipated.  There are a lot of Christmas dies, a couple of Halloween dies, and several that fit any occasion.  Stop in and get yours before they're gone.

Don't forget - Make 'n Take was moved from July 5th to this coming Saturday, July 12th.  Drop in any time between 10:00 and 4:00 to make as many projects as you like.  We will have four cards set up (Only two are done so far, but we promise you'll like them.) for you to work on.  All supplies are provided and our staff are all on hand to help.  The cost is just $2 for each card you make.  We hope we'll see you on Saturday!
